The Painted goby lives in the demersal, marine, depth range 1 - 55 m , usually 1 - 50 m environment.

The Painted goby (Pomatoschistus pictus) is a small goby of Western European waters from Trondheimfjord to Spain, the Canary islands and is sometimes reported in the Mediterranean sea. It lives at depths between 1 and 55 metres, preferring a gravelly or sandy environment. More

Distribution: The painted goby can be found as far north as Trøndelag. It is quite common inshore, from the intertidal zone and as deep as 50 meters. Characteristics: It may be confused with the common goby. More

Painted Goby (Pomatoschistus pictus) This is a relatively small goby with most adult fish being only about 6cm in length although some may grow to 9.5cm. It is a fawn-brown colour with a row of four double dark brown spots along the sides. More

The painted goby is usually found on coarse sand or gravel from the low shore to depths of approximately 50m. Distribution This species occurs all around the coasts of Britain and Ireland apart from the east coast of England. More

Distribution: Like the painted goby, the common goby is distributed along the Norwegian coast, as far north as Trøndelag. maybe even further as it is quite common in the Trondheim fjord. It prefers sandy or muddy substrate, usually not deeper than 30 meters. More
