Genus Colaptes

Black-necked Woodpecker - Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.

Northern Flicker - The Northern Flicker is part of the genus Colaptes which encompasses 12 New-World woodpeckers. There are two living and one extinct subspecies of C. auratus species. The existing sub-species were at one time considered separate species but they commonly interbreed where ranges overlap and are now considered one species by the American Ornithologists Union. Whether or not they are separate species is a well-known example of the species problem.

Colaptes auricularis - The Grey-crowned Woodpecker is a bird species in the woodpecker family . It was formerly placed in the genus Piculus . The scientific name auricularis means "eared", an appearance created by the confluent, fine patterning of the species' head.

Gilded Flicker - The Gilded Flicker most frequently builds its nest hole in a majestic saguaro cactus. Northern Flickers, on the other hand, nest in riparian trees and very rarely inhabit saguaros. Gilded Flickers occasionally hybridize with Northern Flickers in the narrow zones where their range and habitat overlap.

Fernandina's Flicker - Fernandina's Flicker is a species of bird in the woodpecker family. Endemic to Cuba, its small population of 600–800 birds makes it one of the most endangered species of woodpecker in the world; only the possibly-extinct Ivory-billed Woodpecker is known to have a smaller population. The Fernandina's Flicker is threatened by habitat loss.

Green-barred Woodpecker - C. melanochloros is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Chilean Flicker - The Chilean Flicker is a species of bird in the Picidae family. It is found in Argentina and Chile. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.

Colaptes rivolii - The Crimson-mantled Woodpecker is a bird species in the woodpecker family . It was formerly placed in the genus Piculus . Its scientific name rivolii was given in honor of André Masséna, duke of Rivoli.

Colaptes rubiginosus - The Golden-olive Woodpecker, Colaptes rubiginosus, is a resident breeding bird from Mexico south and east to Guyana, northwest Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago. It was formerly placed in the genus Piculus . The scientific name rubiginosus means "full of rust", describing the color of the bird's wings and back.

Andean Flicker - Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland and pastureland.
