Genus Calandrella

 

Hume's Short-toed Lark - The Hume's Lark is a species of lark in the Alaudidae family. It is found in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Republic of India, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

Greater Short-toed Lark - Several subspecies have been named but there is considerable geneflow and the species itself forms part of a larger complex. This is a small pale lark, smaller than the Skylark. It is dark-streaked greyish-brown above, and white below, and has a strong pointed bill that is pinkish with a gray culmen. It has a pale supercilium, dark patches on each side of its neck and a dark tail. Some birds in the west of the range have a rufous crown. The sexes are similar. Subspecies longipennis is paler than dukhunensis which also has a shorter bill. Care must be taken to distinguish this species from other similar Calandrella larks, such as the Lesser Short-toed Lark, Calandrella rufescens.

 

Asian Short-toed Lark - The Asian Short-toed Lark is a species of lark in the Alaudidae family. It is found in China, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.

Red-capped Lark - This is a species of short grassland including fallow agricultural areas. In eastern Africa, it is found in the highlands, normally above 1000 m, but it [occurs down to sea level in suitable habitat in the cooler south of its extensive range.

 

Sand Lark - It is found east of Jammu, through Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Nepal terai and plains, Bihar, northern West Bengal, Bhutan foothills, Brahmaputra valley in Assam, and in Bangladesh, extending into Myanmar along the rivers such as the lower Irrawady and Chindwin. Also Madhya Pradesh south to Hoshangabad and Mhow.

 

Lesser Short-toed Lark - Many populations, including the Spanish and African breeders, are sedentary, but some Asian birds from the north of the breeding range migrate south in winter. This species is a very rare wanderer to northern and western Europe.

 

Somali Short-toed Lark - The Rufous Short-toed Lark , also known as the Somali Short-toed Lark, is a small passerine bird.
