Adding tothe confusion, the name Agoutis is sometimes used to refer to the whole family Dasyproctidae, including or excluding theAgouti genus.

AGOUTI Red-rumped agoutis are 16-25 inches long (including a one-inch tail), and weigh from two to nine pounds.

Agoutis are a small to medium sized rodents that feed on fruit, seeds and vegetation.

Agoutis are usually diurnal, but many stay up after sunset in the lighted areas around the buildings.

AgoutisAgouti (Dasyprocta Antillensis) Agoutis are rodents, and usually brown in color, they eat nuts and fruits which fall to the forest floor from the canopy above.
