Frigate petrel

The White-faced Storm-petrel breeds on remote islands in the south Atlantic, such as Tristan da Cunha and also Australia and New Zealand. There are north Atlantic colonies on the Cape Verde Islands, Canary Islands and Savage Islands. It nests in colonies close to the sea in rock crevices and lays a single white egg. It spends the rest of the year at sea.

The Frigate petrel is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

The British frigate Petrel left Fortress Monroe recently, and has gone to Charleston, S.C. The Malpomene left for Bermuda. In Norfolk, last evening, MILES TAYLOR was stabbed by one WILLIAMS, who was immediately arrested. About twenty-five rebel prisoners arrived here this morning from Fort McHenry. They came upon the Baltimore mail-boat Georgiana, and will soon be sent to City Point for exchange. - We have space only to state that Miss BATEMAN's reappearance at the Brooklyn Academy was a complete success. storm petrel or frigate petrel was only confirmed as a breeding bird on the Canaries in 1987 with the discovery of a small colony on the islet of Montaña Clara. The colony of between 24 and 30 pairs is sited on the sandy southern half of the island but more may breed inside the caldera and even on the neighbouring islets of Alegranza and La Graciosa and perhaps even on Lobos off northern Fuerteventura.
