The Noronha Vireo is classified as Near Threatened (NT), is close to qualifying for or is likely to qualify for a threatened category in the near future.

Noronha Vireo is also present on Ilha Rata. In addition there is an endemic race of Eared Dove Zenaida auriculata noronha. An endemic sigmodontine rodent, Noronhomys vespuccii, mentioned by Amerigo Vespucci, is now extinct. The islands have two endemic reptiles, Amphisbaena ridleyi and Trachylepis atlantica. Noronha vireo (Vireo gracilirostris), which is abundant in forests and trees. Other land birds are cocoruta (Elainia spectabilis) and eared dove (Zenaida auriculata).
