Stachyris pygmaea

The Visayan Pygmy-babbler is a bird species endemic to the Philippines. The genus Sterrhoptilus was formerly included in Stachyris and is usually placed in the family Timaliidae. It is a close relative of the white-eyes however, and like these might arguably be placed in a distinct family Zosteropidae.

The Stachyris pygmaea is classified as Near Threatened (NT), is close to qualifying for or is likely to qualify for a threatened category in the near future.
