Blue-rumped Pitta is confined, in Thailand, to the extreme southeast of the country. The most accessible place for birdwatchers to find this species is Khao Soi Dao in Chantaburi province, although there are a few other national parks in the region which have limited visiting access where it may also be found: Khao Kitchakut and Khao Srabab. More

The birding wasn't really spectacular, but a splendid male White-throated Rock Thrush and a Blue Whistling Thrush were good. I heard that it's possible to go higher up into the mountains, probably good for different species. However, we never found the, probably poorly marked, trail. Siamese Fireback, Green Peafowl, Bar-bellied and Blue-rumped Pitta can often be found without too much trouble in a few days of birding. Forest trail at Cat Tien Magnificent buttress roots, Cat TienWoodpeckers, barbets, hornbills and broadbills are well represented at Cat Tien and may be seen while birding along the main road and park trails.
