Hooded Munia

The Hooded Munia is a small munia. It is whitish below, brown above and has a golden to orange rump. It is unlikely to be confused with other birds in its range. The juvenile is similar in appearance to the much larger in size juvenile Grand Mannikin L. grandis.

The Hooded Munia is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

The presence of Hooded Munia stretches all the islands north of Australia from Melanesia to Guinea, where it is endemic.
