Saddleback

The Tieke or Saddleback Philesturnus carunculatus is a previously rare and endangered New Zealand bird of the family Callaeidae. It is glossy black with a chestnut saddle. Its taxonomic family is also known as that of the wattlebirds and includes the two subspecies of the Kokako as well as the extinct Huia. All members of this family have coloured fleshy appendages on either side of the beak known as wattles. In the case of Saddleback/Tieke, they are a vivid red in colour.

The Saddleback is classified as Near Threatened (NT), is close to qualifying for or is likely to qualify for a threatened category in the near future.

Saddleback Church is an evangelical Christian megachurch located in Lake Forest, California, situated in southern Orange County, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The church was founded in 1980 by pastor Rick Warren.
