Ovambo Sparrowhawk

The Ovambo or Ovampo Sparrowhawk is a species of bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It is found in Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The Ovambo Sparrowhawk is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

Ovambo Sparrowhawk at Derdepoort Recreational Park I atlased Dedepoort recreational park today. A nice range of birds were seen but the highlight was an Ovambo Sparrowhawk. It was seen a number of times flying between the exotic trees in the park. A nice area to bird as you can walk through the park and the entrance fee is around R20. More
