The Whiskered Tern is classified as Least Concern. Does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.

Whiskered Tern is a rare visitor. Both are also passage migrants. A number of other photographers have also documented the Whiskered Turn arriving in Singapore. BK Lim showcased his images in the photographic forum, Nature Pixels, taken in October 2008 and shown above. According to Luan Keng, the population of Whiskered has somewhat plummeted over the last 10 years, seen mostly from September-November. White-winged on the other hand are more often seen from January-March. More

The Whiskered Tern (Chlidonias hybridus) is a seabird of the tern family Sternidae. This bird has a number of geographical races, differing mainly in size and minor plumage details. C. h. hybridus breeds in warmer parts of Europe and Asia. The smaller-billed and darker C. h. delalandii is found in east and south Africa, and the paler C. h. javanicus from Java to Australia. The tropical forms are resident, but European and Asian birds winter south to Africa and southern Asia. More

Indian Whiskered Tern, Chlidonias hybridus is a seabird of the tern family Sternidae. It is white below and grey above in colour.
