Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Silver-backed Needletail is the more likely. The size estimation (only c. 1.5 times the size of Glossy Swiftlet) supports this view. Nevertheless, as stated by the observer, the identification remains in doubt. Committee members resolved to agree with the observers conclusion despite the under estimated size calculation (1.5 times the size of Glossy Swiftlet is significantly too small for any Hirundapus) and accept this bird as either Silver-backed or Brown-backed Needletail.
